Welcome
Thank you for visiting my website. There are times, for every one of us, when life feels overwhelming and confusing. As scary as these moments of crisis are, they can also be opportunities for profound change. Psychotherapy offers the confidential support needed to navigate a path towards healing and wholeness. As I often say, people come to therapy not because there's something wrong, but because there's something right!
Qualifications & experience
Fully accredited with UKCP, I began practicing psychotherapy in 2012 after gaining an MA in mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy (CPP) from the Karuna Institute in Devon. I’m also qualified in Practising Energy Psychotherapy (2023) and Shiatsu-Do (1995). A Dharma Holder with StoneWater Zen Sangha, both my work and daily life are inspired by a longstanding Zen Buddhist practice.
A sense of dissatisfaction and disconnection drew me to Zen practice in my 20s. Finding such a place of rooted spaciousness was a revelation. But meditation alone wasn’t enough to get to the roots of my dis-ease. I studied shiatsu to find out more, and eventually began my own psychotherapeutic enquiry. Much later, I studied CPP as both a continuation of personal healing as well as a way of bringing Zen and psychotherapy together in order to share both with others.
Since then, I’ve discovered Energy Psychotherapy (EP) and am delighted to find that the practical and powerful benefits of EP dovetail seamlessly with my mindfulness-based approach and the somatic wisdom of the Zen tradition. I use tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and other cognitive-somatic protocols alongside somatic enquiry, guided meditation and breathwork to help rapidly clear stress from the nervous system and bring balance and clarity to the body-mind-energy-system. Over time, as residual stress dissolves and deeply entrenched patterns loosen, the freedom and joy at the heart of being become more and more known.
My approach is suitable for both brief therapy (six to 40 sessions) as well as open-ended work. I practise from three south London locations – Brixton SW2, Herne Hill SE24 and Waterloo SE1. To find out more about my approach and whether it's right for you, I offer a 30-minute consultation to begin with. To arrange an initial meeting, please email me at dorindatalbot@gmail.com.

The essence of my psychotherapeutic approach, whether that’s working on a specific issue in a highly focused way or exploring the self in depth over an open-ended period of time, is underpinned by mindfulness.
Mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy brings the wisdom and awareness practices of Buddhism into a one-to-one therapeutic context.
Time-limited or brief mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapy can be anything from six sessions to around 40, which is equivalent to weekly meetings over about 10-12 months.
At the moment I have spaces available at my practices in Brixton SW2; at Herne Hill Space, London SE24 (two-minutes from Herne Hill overground station and a short bus ride from Brixton tube); and at the Breathe London Wellbeing Centre in Waterloo near London's South Bank (within easy walking distance of Waterloo, Southwark and London Bridge stations). I also offer some sessions outdoors in beautiful Brockwell Park.
I offer a brief initial consultation, which is free of charge. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you might have, discuss what you'd like to gain from psychotherapy and for both of us to decide whether we would like to work together. After that fees start at £80 per 50-minute psychotherapy session. I hold some reduced-fee places available for those on low income (there may be a waiting time for these sessions).
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07949 868 426 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
